Une journée typique à CAFORMA / A Typical Day at CAFORMA

A CAFORMA ma routine quotidienne consiste à me lever à 6h00 du matin au plus tard, manger avec les étudiants à 6h30 (nous mangeons généralement de la bouillie de riz et de blé) et commencer à travailler vers 7h30.

Il fait tellement chaud ici dans la journée que rien qu’à rester dehors en position assise, on se met à suer. Hier les températures ont atteint plus de 50°C. Le volant de la voiture était tellement chaud que nous ne pouvions pas le toucher et nous pouvions à peine nous asseoir sur les sièges de la voiture. En ne restant que 10 minutes dehors, on peut attraper un coup de soleil !

Notre bloc d’alimentation pendant la journée est l’énergie solaire et puis l’électricité est allumée à 18h30 avec le coucher de soleil. Nous avons ensuite 3 heures pour travailler parce que l’électricité est coupée à 21h30 précises.

Après il n’y a pas d’autre choix que de trouver autre chose à faire. Impossible de travailler sur l’ordinateur. Mais c’est une bonne occasion pour discuter avec les gens et se coucher de bonne heure ! J’ai aussi commencé à jouer aux dames avec les étudiants et cela peut durer très longtemps lorsque l’on commence à devenir compétitif.

In CAFORMA my daily routine consists of getting up at 6:00 a.m., latest, eating with the interns at 6:30 a.m. (this is usually la bouillie which is rice/grain purée, or hot cereal), and start working around 7:30 a.m. By this time everyone is up and ready to go!

It gets so hot here during the day that just sitting inside makes you sweat! Yesterday, the temperature reached over 50°C! The steering wheel in the car was so hot we couldn’t touch it, and we could barely sit on the seats in the car. If you go outside for 10 minutes you can catch a tan!

Our power source during the day is solar energy, and the electricity is turned on at 6:30 p.m. with the sunset. We then have 3 hours to work as the electricity is turned off at 9:30 p.m. on the dot! After this, there’s no choice but to find something else to do. So, no computer work can be done. It’s a good opportunity to catch up with people and to go to bed early! I’ve started playing draughts with the interns and that can last for a LONG time when you get competitive!
